FENIX HAIDONG GUMDO
Haidong Gumdo is a Korean sword art that trains in forms, fighting drills, and target cutting to understand how to use a sword. This training is used to develop principles that are carried into daily life.
This is a martial art that is paced for a good workout but is low impact, which makes it suitable for many age groups. Classes are for first grade and up.

Classes
Our sword classes range from casual practice sessions to intense drill days. The sessions are flexible based on who is in attendance. The program is designed for ages 6 and older.
Students start with the fundamental basics of the art through stances and sword handling. All of our students are taught the same material, regardless of age or physical ability; however, adaptations are taught for those that may risk injury. We ask that every student work to the best of their ability while using the sword as a way to channel their focus and energy. This program is a good match for those that want to be active with low impact.
Membership And Affiliations
The Haidong Gumdo program offered through Fenix Haidong Gumdo led by Master Gerrard under the close instruction of USA Senior Chief Master Marshall Parnell. We are a member of the USA Haidong Gumdo Association, and the World Haidong Gumdo Federation under the direction of Grand Master Jeong-Ho Kim. Our school also belongs to the Midwest Haidong Gumdo group.
The World Haidong Gumdo Federation (WHGF) was exclusively established in July, 1982, based on the origin of history, ideology, technique and training system. In November of 1996 the World Haidong Gumdo Federation established itself outside of South Korea. It was then popularized exclusively in 51 Countries, organized 31 associations worldwide, registered & licensed "Haidong Gumdo" in 20 countries (including the United States), and organized 1,200 additional schools outside of South Korea. Grand Master Jeong-Ho Kim is the President of The World Haidong Gumdo Federation, and continues to spread his vision of the martial arts and conduct seminars.
